Is there a drain hole?Updated 9 days ago

Most of our units use the condensation to cool down the condenser, which makes it more efficient. On really hot and humid days, some water may drip out of the back of the unit, but there is no drain hole.

If you live in an area with exceptional humidity, it's recommended to hose down the back every so often and drain the unit. To do this, just tilt the unit back, let it drain, and then keep running it so the hot coil can zap excess water.

Here's a video of one of our founders, Mike on how to manually tilt a window AC for drainage:

However, if your AC model has a black drain cover on the bottom right of the outside of the AC, then it does have a drain hole.

The drain plug is optional, and you typically will not need to use the drain plug under normal conditions.

On really hot and humid days, if the base pan (the bottom shelf of the unit) fills up with water, and you notice water swooshing sounds, you'll want to drain the AC via the drain plug.

How to use the drain plug:

- Reach to the back of the AC and pull out the drain plug.

- The excess water will be released.

- Once drained, put the plug back in.

Once a year, as a maintenance best practice, we recommend following the above manual drainage process.
