Your room air is pulled through the back panel of the Windmill Purifier Max, and is pulled from all sides in the Windmill Air Purifier. The air then travels through three layers of filtration: 

1. Pre-Filter (to help filter dust, mold, hair, and other large particulates)
2. Activated Carbon Filter (to help remove odors, harmful gasses, smoke, and other volatile organic compounds)
3. True HEPA Filter (to help filter 99.97% of harmful airborne particles down to .3 microns).

After that, fresh. clean air is sent out through the top outlet vents
