In most cases, a window AC can partially cool multiple rooms if doors are open and the square footage is within boundaries of the BTUs—but there are important limitations. Here's what to expect:

1. Even Cooling Across Multiple Rooms

   • Cool air will stay mostly in the room where the unit is installed. Adjacent rooms will likely not be as cold.

2. Deal with Heat Loads from Multiple Spaces

   • If rooms have different sun exposures, electronics, or people, the unit may not keep up.

3. Push Air Around Corners

   • If the rooms aren’t in a straight line, airflow drops off dramatically.

It is possible to create more wear and tear on the AC by attempting it to cool multiple rooms and generally is not recommended.
